Tedd Cycle was established in 1969 in Vails Gate, NY and was referred to back in the day as “Ted’s Cycle Shed.” In the beginning, they started by building laced wheels and selling used parts along with some army surplus parts. They also began to manufacture and sell hard to find chopper parts such as sissy bars, spring forks, custom oil tanks and a chrome plating service.
Due to the ever growing demand for replica and aftermarket parts, Tedd Cycle established V-Twin Mfg. in 1977. Some of the first specially designed parts included Forward Control Kits, Oil Tank Covers, Star Hubs and various Flathead parts.
Around the same time, the company began to establish a dealer network. Dealers would
purchase the custom made parts for sale in their own shops, helping to spread the news
about V-Twin Mfg.. In 1978, V-Twin Mfg. printed its first 16 page parts catalog.
In 1981, Tedd Cycle, Inc. was formed after several years of success and having now been established as one of the premiere companies for genuine and aftermarket parts for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. By 1991, the company outgrew the original “shed” and moved to Newburgh, New York,
which is less than ten miles from their original location. The original Ted Cycle Shed
is still used today to store samples and related development projects.
